Following his retirement as Under Secretary in 1972, James C. Bradley agreed to serve as Special Consultant to Secretary S. Dillon Ripley. Bradley's primary responsibilities focused on management issues and the planning of capital improvement projects for the Secretary and he was particularly concerned with the construction of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden and the National Air and Space Museum. He continued in the position until 1976.
