Walter C. Sivyer (1862-1945) came to Spokane Falls in 1889 and entered the real estate and title insurance business. In 1894 he organized the Inland Empire Company, which in 1912 became Walter C. Sivyer and Son Company. The firm invested extensively in eastern Washington, northeastern Oregon, and northern Idaho electrical utilities, including Grangeville Electric Light and Power Company, Enterprise Electric Company, and the Deschutes Power Company.
