Shiers, Walter Henry col.
The Ross Smith Flight was the first successful Great Britain to Australia flight completed by Australians and earned the pilots Ross Smith, Keith Smith, and mechanics J.M. Bennett and Wally Shiers the prize of 10,000 pounds. They departed from Hounslow aerodrome on the 12th of November 1919 in their Vickers Vimy Bomber and landed on the 10th of December in Darwin.
