John Moore was a one time owner of the Aldie Mill. He married Matilda Beard, daughter of Stephen Beard and Orpah Lacey. Stephen Beard lived at Ish's Tanyard, located on Route 50; he was postmaster at Goshen in 1816. Goshen was the first post office in eastern Loudoun County (1800-1821).
