Ravenel family.
South Carolina family. The Ravenel family was allied with the Ford family of Morristown, New Jersey and South Carolina through several intermarriages. Dr. Edmund Ravenel (1797-1871) married Charlotte Matilda Ford, daughter of Timothy Ford (1762-1830) and Sarah Amelia DeSaussure. After Charlotte's death, Dr. Ravenel married another daughter of Timothy Ford, Charlotte's half-sister Louisa Catherine Ford (1805-1886). Her mother was Timothy Ford's second wife, Mary Magdalen Prioleau.
