Henry H. Wheeler (1826-1915), for whom Wheeler County was named, operated mail and stage lines from the Dalles to Canyon City in the 1860s.

Henry H. Wheeler (1826-1915), for whom Wheeler County was named, operated mail and stage lines from the Dalles to Canyon City in the 1860s.
He was later active in stock business and ranching. He retired to Mitchell, Oregon in 1904.
