New York (State). Temporary Commission on the State Court System
Variant namesThe Temporary Commission on the State Court System was created by Chapter 943 of the Laws of 1970 (amended by Chapter 115, Laws of 1971) to study and make recommendations concerning the state's court system. The commission was specifically charged to investigate the effects of new pre-trial procedures, civil rights decisions and legislation, narcotics and divorce laws, bail and detention procedures, and measures to prevent recidivism.
In addition, it was also to study the need for new or reorganized courts, the need for additional judges, and the relative merits of various methods for the selection, tenure, and removal of judges and justices.
D. Clinton Dominick served as chairman, and Harold A. Jerry, Jr. served as director and counsel of the commission.
