Jerry M. Lewis (1937-), professor emeritus of sociology, was a sociology professor at Kent State University from 1966 to 1996. He obtained a bachelor's degree from Cornell College, a master's degree from Boston University, and a doctoral degree from the University of Illinois (1970). Dr. Lewis was a witness to the shootings on the Kent State University campus on May 4, 1970, and has been involved in researching, memorializing, and lecturing about this tragic event. He has been interviewed numerous times by the local and national media about the shootings.
