David Sandler Berkowitz (1913-1983) received his Harvard A.B. in 1938, and his Ph.D. in 1946. While a graduate student, he was a section leader for Roger Merriman's History 1 course. Berkowitz also worked as a tutor for the Board of Supervisors (later called the Bureau of Study Counsel) and served as a consultant to the War Services Information Bureau at Harvard during World War II.
