Arroyo, Martina
Variant namesAmerican soprano; b. in New York City on 2 Feb. 1936 (or, according to some sources, 1937); officially retired from music in 1989; she taught at Louisiana State University, UCLA, University of Delaware, Wilberforce University, the International Sommerakademie-Mozarteum in Salzburg, and Indiana University; founded the Martina Arroyo Foundation, which is dedicated to the development of emerging young opera singers by immersing them in complete role preparation courses.
