The organization started on Nov. 17, 1920 as a social group for the wives of faculty and administrators at Central Michigan University (CMU). Mrs. Warriner was the first president. The name of the organization changed in Sept. 1998 from Faculty Dames to Faculty Women, to include women who were/are themselves faculty and administrators at CMU.
