Hide Profile

Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation employees created International Association of Machinists Lodge 776 at the company plant in Fort Worth, Texas in 1942. Aeronautical Industrial District Lodge No. 776 consists of three sections, 776-A, 776-B, and 776-C, each representing a different work shift. The union unofficially struck in the fall of 1945, and officially in the spring of 1946, due to ongoing resistance by the company to union demands during the transition from war production to peacetime production. On May 27, 1965, the International Association of Machinists changed its name to International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
