Hooper, John A. (John Albert), 1838-1925
Variant namesJohn Hooper was the son of Benjamin and Pamela Hooper of Buckingham County, Virginia. He served as major in the Commissary Department, Walthall's Brigade, during the period of his correspondence, June 1863-April 1865, with Irene Hicks, who became his wife in 1864.
