Robert Coey Millar, son of Alick David Millar and Grace Emma Coey, was born 15 Jan 1915 Minneapolis, MN; died June 19, 2001 in PA; married 1 Sept 1956 in Gledwyne, PA to Suzanne Grace Rhoads. Mr. Millar graduated from the Univ. of Minnesota in 1936. He worked at the Olmsted-Hewitt Advertising Agency (later Olmsted and Foley), a firm best known for creating the Burma Shave ad campaign of roadside verse; RCM wrote many of these himself. He then served as a Naval Reserve officer within the Aviation Supply Office, Accessories Division, in Philadelphia, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. He became Public Relations Director at Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia in 1949 and was promoted to Assistant Director and then Director. In 1961, he returned to Minneapolis as CEO of Abbott Hospital. He oversaw its merger with Northwestern Hospital in 1970 and served as Executive Vice President and then President of the combined Abbott-Northwestern Hospital. He took early retirement in 1976 and moved his family to Cape Cod, MA but returned to work in 1977 as the Administrator of Barnstable County Hospital in Pocasset, a village of Bourne, MA. He retired again in 1981 and settled in PA.
