Hide Profile

William White (1754-1825), a native of Haverhill, Mass., was a merchant in Boston until 1802 when business reversals forced him to retire to Rutland, Mass. He was married to Mary Chandler (1749-1794), a daughter of Rev. John Chandler (1723-1762) of Billerica, Mass. Their son William Charles White (1777-1818) was an actor, playwright, and attorney in Worcester, Mass. He performed in Boston and New York before retiring to accept the position of Worcester County Attorney in 1811, although he continued to produce his own plays. Another son, Moses Hazen White (1778-1829), became a successful merchant.
