It was created to exchange information and ideas relating to Edgar Allen Poe biography and criticism both in the U.S. and abroad. The Association publishes a newsletter and meets in conjunction with Modern Language Association meetings. Honorary members have included Jay B. Hubbell and Richard Wilbur.
