Greenock Ropeworks Ltd (rope makers: 1936-1999: Whinhill, Greenock, Inverclyde, Scotland)
The Greenock Ropeworks Ltd , Whinhill, Greenock, Inverclyde, Scotland, was founded in the early 20th century and was acquired by the Gourock Ropeworks Co Ltd , Port Glasgow, Inverclyde, in 1936 and operated as a subsidiary of the Gourock company. The Greenock Ropeworks Ltd produced cotton fishing nets and manila trawl nets and by 1954 was a specialist unit for working in soft hemp. The company was dissolved in 1999 .
