McAllister, Janet Wien, 1914-

Janet Wien McAllister, medical social worker, was born in Belmont, Massachusetts. She graduated from Radcliffe College, cum laude, in 1935. She also studied at Simmons Secretarial School (B.S., 1936), the University of Chicago School of Social Services, and Simmons School of Social Work (M.S., 1944). She worked as a medical social worker at Grace New Haven Community Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut, and was director of Social Services at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina (1949-1958). She later worked as director of Social Services at the New England Medical Center. In 1975 she married Alexander McAllister.
