Payne, Henry L., 1934-2001.
Henry Payne was born in Clay County, Illinois, the son of Harmon and Mina Straley Payne. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University and University of Illinois. He began working for the Illinois Department of Public Aid at Rockford in 1961 and married Nancy Tarpley Greenwood in 1964. He and Nancy were both interested in genealogy. Nancy, a secretary and later accountant was also interested in creative writing and acting with local theatre. Her father Willis Tarpley came from Danville, Ill. Both had ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars and WWII.
