Davey's, Inc.
Davey's, Inc., manufacturer of handbooks, shoes, and leather goods, was founded by Chester E. Herwitz in Worcester, Mass., in 1953. It designed purses for such prominent department stores as Saks 5th Ave., Lord & Taylor, and Neiman Marcus and in addition to belts and handbags, Herwitz designed women's clothing in Worcester under the Cottage Tailor label. At its peak, the company had over 200 employees and maintained offices in New York and Los Angeles.
