Born in Cambridge, Mich., Mar 27, 1845; attended Adrian College; grad. from University of Mich., 1869; became instructor in science & modern languages in Saginaw High School; was superintendent there and in Alpena, Mich., for ten years; on account of poor health he gave up teaching & established mercantile business in Alpena; organized telephone companies in Mich.; entered insurance business, 1898; much interested in history ; died in Detroit, Apr. 30, 1924.
