Albert A. De Leo was born October 14, 1874, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, to John and Hattie De Leo, the oldest of five children. A brother, Roy, worked in Cordova as superintendent for the Copper River & Northwestern Railway. Albert was in Alaska from July 1909 until January 1914, possibly working as an accountant for the railroad during its construction. In his spare time he photographed, processed, and sold prints and postcards using equipment and supplies sent to him by his family. He wrote home that the postcards were in such demand in the camp, he could not make them as fast as they sold. Little is known of his experience in Alaska other than what he wrote home to his family. When he left Alaska, he went to work for the Milwaukee railroad at Malden, Washington, then as superintendent of the Olympic division where he remained until 1925. He was the timekeeper at the Charles Nelson Mills in Port Angeles, Washington, when he died on November 30, 1926. He had one son, Tim, born around 1907. Albert De Leo was a leading knight of Naval Lodge 353, B.P.O.E.
