The Vice Chancellor for Medical Affairs and Dean is the chief administrative officer of the School of Medicine.
This record subgroup comprises mainly those chief administrative functions of the office, which began in 1899 with the merger of St. Louis Medical College and Missouri Medical College under the aegis of the University and that continue to this day. During the first two-thirds of the twentieth century, the deanship was a part-time responsibility.
