Historical note: The Racing Commission prescribes and enforces rules governing the conduct, safety, security, growth, and integrity of all pari-mutual horse racing in the state. The Commission issues track, race meeting and occupational licenses; collects racing license and tax revenues; appoints stewards and veterinarians to represent the state; approves track-appointed officials; monitors the daily conduct of racing and investigates any irregularities which may lead to criminal prosecution.
