Frank C. Carpenter was an electrician in Foxboro, Ma. The son of Robert Winthran and Etta Maria Chandler Carpenter, he attended public school in Foxboro. Although his father was a lawyer, Carpenter did not continue his own education beyond high school. As a student, one of Carpenter's hobbies was stamp collecting. Carpenter began his employment as an electrician with the Foxboro Electric Company sometime between his graduation from high school in 1896 and 1899. He worked directly for James W. Tufts, traveling through New England and the Southern States. Carpenter attended a Congregational church and was a Mason.
