William Callaway Estes, physician and businessman, was born in Clayton County, Georgia, September 19, 1856, and died August 12, 1926, in Rex, Georgia. He earned his medical degree from Atlanta Medical College (1895), and practiced in Rex, Georgia (1895-January 1901; 1916-1926), and in Atlanta, Georgia (1901-August 1916). He and his brother, James, opened a blacksmith and wagon repair business (1884), and bought the contract for the Joshua Berry Grain Cradle, which they manufactured and sold (1885-1921). Their business also made furniture under the name Estes-Walcott Company (1923) and the Rex Chair Company (1930).
