Graves, Benjamin Carter, 1901-1985
Variant namesBenjamin Franklin Graves was born in Virginia in 1773. At the time of the outbreak of the War of 1812, Graves was living in Lexington, KY. Graves joined the Kentucky Militia under the command of Col. Lewis. In 1813, at the Battle of the River Raisin, Graves was captured by a Native American and was never heard from again. Graves County, KY was named in his honor in 1823.
