Historian and museum consultant. Born in Lubbock, Texas. Earned his doctoral degree in history from Texas Tech University. From 1974-1976 was director of Texas Tech's Center for Historic Preservation Technology and from 1977-1982 was the director of the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum in Canyon, Texas. In 1983, went to Brazil as a Fulbright Scholar and researched for his book, THE ELUSIVE EDEN: FRANK McMULLAN'S CONFEDERATE COLONY IN BRAZIL, published in 1987. In 1983, formed Southwest Museum Services, a museum consulting firm based in Houston, Texas.
