Johannes Fredericus Gronovius (1611-1671), classical scholar and critic, was born on 8 September 1611 in Hamburg, Germany, and became Professor of History at Deventer, the Netherlands. He died on 28 December 1671 at Leiden in the Netherlands.
The second hand may be that of Jacobus Gronovius (1645-1716), who in 1678-1679 re-edited his father J.F. Gronovius' edition of Livy's works, adding notes of his own.
