Kirkbride, Eliza Butler, 1836-1922
Variant namesEliza Butler Kirkbride was active in educational and social welfare organizations. Her husband was director of the Department of Mental Diseases at the Pennsylvania Hospital from 1840 until his death in 1883. An elementary school at Seventh and Dickinson Street in South Philadelphia is named after Mrs. Kirkbride.
