Berlin, Helen

Helen Berlin, born in Philadelphia, was a violin soloist, chamber-music artist, and teacher. A child prodigy who played her first public recital at age seven, she was later awarded a four year fellowship at Juilliard Graduate School. In 1934 she won an orchestral debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra through a violinists' contest conducted by the Concerts for Youth Committee. She later played with the NBC Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and New York Philharmonic.
