Alumnus and Poultry Science Professor, George H. Arscott, was born in Hilo, Hawaii, in July, 1923. Arscott graduated from Oregon State College with a B.S. in Poultry Husbandry in 1949. After earning a Ph. D in Poultry Nutrition from the University of Maryland in 1953, Arscott returned to OSC that same year to fill the position of Assistant Professor of Poultry Husbandry. Rising through the academic ranks within the Department of Poultry Science, Arscott attained department head post in 1970. In addition to teaching, Arscott was also actively engaged in poultry science research, specializing in the study of the nutritional requirements of poultry and evaluation of feedstuffs. Becoming Professor Emeritus of Poultry Science in 1987, Arscott remained active as a researcher with the International Executive Service Corps (IESC) and ACDI-VOCA after retirement from OSU.
