George Baylor (1752-1784), from a prominent Virginia family, was selected by Washington as his aide-de-camp and commissioned a lieutenant colonel. He commanded the 3rd Continental Dragoons until he was bayonetted in the lungs and captured in the Tappan Massacre, 28 September 1778. He ultimately was exchanged and returned to duty with the 1st Continental Dragoons, which merged with the 3rd in November, 1782.

Richard Young was assistant Deputy Quartermaster in Fredericksburg, Va.
