Friedlaender (Family : Oppeln, Germany)
The Friedlaender family settled in Oppeln about 1833 when Marcus Friedlaender purchased real estate there and established a distilling firm, which later grew to a large enterprise and remained in the family for 3 generations. Marcus' son Siegfried was president of the Oppeln Jewish community for many years; he also sat on the town council and was an town elder ( Stadtältester ).
