Glen Nielsen graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and did his advanced studies at Columbia University. He worked for IBM as a customer engineer, sales engineer, technical specialist, and associate engineer in Engineering and Systems Planning. Nielsen worked as a Technical Assistant to the Vice President before becoming head of the Development Engineering Department at ElectroData Corporation. He was a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
