The Facilities Department of The George Washington University operates and maintains University facilities and provides quality support services to improve the physical environment and the overall mission of the University in the education, research and health care delivery processes. The primary functions of Facilities Management are Life Safety, Emergency Response, Maintenance, Repairs and General Services. They are also responsible for most minor and some major construction, alterations, renovations and support for many University functions such as Graduations, Colonial Inauguration and Registration, etc. They also provide support to Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) during design and or construction. This includes but is not limited to shut off of utility systems, signage, key and lock installation, and landscaping support. Facilites was previously known as the Physical Plant.
