John Breckinridge (Princeton Class of 1818) a Presbyterian clergyman and controversialist, was the son of John Breckinridge (1760-1806) and the brother of Joseph Cabell Breckinridge (Princeton Class of 1810). In 1820-21 John was a tutor at Princeton University and a student at the Princeton Theological Seminary; later, he was chaplain of Congress.
