Rev. A. A. Hyde was born in Vermont, Illinois, April 25, 1854. At the age of sixteen he joined the Congregational Church in Kansas. After becoming acquainted with Methodism he joined that denomination in 1880. He was ordained Deacon in 1890, and Elder in 1891. He came to New Mexico and served as pastor at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Springer and the surrounding communities until 1895. From 1896-1902 he served in the Socorro and Silver City area, later moving on to San Antonio, Texas, and Tombstone, Arizona. In 1906 he resigned from the ministry because of failing health. He relocated to Los Angeles, California, where he died on January 13, 1908.
