Berkeley County and Charleston, S.C. family descended from Isaac Porcher (1660-1727), a native of France. His grandson, Peter Porcher (1726-1781) of Peru Plantation, was the father of Thomas Porcher (1766-1835) and Samuel Porcher (1768-1851). Thomas Porcher (1766-1835) of Ophir Plantation was the father of fourteen children including Charlotte Porcher (b. 1794), Thomas Porcher (1796-1843), Anna Maria Porcher (b. 1811), Peter Cordes Porcher (1814-1853), and William Porcher (1800-1833). William Porcher (1800-1833) was the father of Dr. Francis Peyre Porcher (1824-1895), whose children included Walter Peyre Porcher (1858-1919), Virginia Leigh Porcher (1866-1940), Anne Alston Porcher (1882-1970), and Louise de Cherigny Porcher. Samuel Peyre (1715-1758) is related to the Porcher family through Francis Peyre Porcher's mother Isabella Sarah Peyre Porcher (1803-1890).
