Jack Jatis-Juozaitis (1907-1967) was a clerk of the Cook County court, a precinct captain of the Chicago Democratic Party, and a leader of the Lithuanian-American community in Chicago. Beginning in 1931, Jatis served as captain of the Democratic Party organization in the 58th precinct of the 13th ward in Chicago. During World War II, he served in the Pacific. Upon returning to Chicago he resumed his political activities and became deputy clerk of the Cook County court in 1949. Jatis was also an active member of the Lithuanian community in Chicago, and an advocate of sports as a means to establish bonds between Lithuania and Lithuanian emigrants. In 1935, he was a member of the American sports delegation to the world Lithuanian congress in Kaunas. Jatis was also involved in the development of the sport of basketball in Lithuania. Finally, Jatis was a member of the Knights of Lithuania and a board member of the Lithuanian Democratic League of Cook County.
