Zohn, Hershel

Theatre director and professor at New Mexico State University from 1950-1975. Zohn began his theatre career in New York during the 1920s. He earned a Masters of Arts degree at the University of Denver in 1949. During his tenure at NMSU, Zohn toured the Far East with the student troupe, the Playmakers, saw a new campus theatre built, chaired the Southwest Theatre Conference, and guest-directed plays in Mexico City. He appeared with the Playmakers as Prince Bolkonski in War and Peace and as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof. He toured in Europe and wrote articles based on his travels, judged theatre contests, and hosted a radio program called "Drama Through the Ages."
