Owner of Tombee Plantation, Saint Helena Island, Beaufort County, South Carolina. Thomas B. Chaplin was the son of Saxby Chaplin (1780-1828) and Isabella Field (1785-1864) and the grandson of Thomas Chaplin and Elizabeth Fripp. Chaplin's first wife was Mary T. McDowell, and his second wife was Sophia Creighton.
