John Henry Johnson was a running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers and was inducted into the pro football Hall of Fame in 1987. He played in the National Football League for 13 years; one season for the Canadian Football League, two years for the San Francisco 49ers, two years with the Detriot Lions, five years with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and one year with the Houston Oilers. He became the first Steeler in franchise history to gain 1,000 yards rushing in a season, accomplishing the feat twice in 1962 and again in 1964.
