Greener, Leslie
Variant namesHerbert Leslie Greener, teacher, journalist, archaeologist and artist, was born in Cape Town, South Africa on 13/2/1900. He was educated in England and served in India after graduating from the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. He was also prisoner of war in Japan. He was involved in several archaeological expeditions in Egypt, and participated in the removal of the monuments in Nubia to make way for the Aswan Dam. His first wife was artist Rhona Hazzard. After some time in Sydney he settled in Tasmania in 1949.
