The Jefferson Committee was a committee of citizens of the city and county of Philadelphia organized for the purpose of establishing a fund for the relief of Thomas Jefferson, with a resolution of the committee "to transmit on the 10th day of Janaury next [1828] to the trustees under the will of Thomas Jefferson, for the exclusive use and benefit of his daughter [Martha Randolph] whatever balance may at that time exist."
