Parnall, John A.E.

John Parnall completed his B.A. (1935) and B.Ed (1949) at the University of British Columbia and an M.A. at the University of Toronto. After serving as Associate Registrar and lecturer in the Department of Mathematics, Parnall became Registrar in 1957 and held that position until 1980. Gordon Smith taught at the School of Art in Vancouver from 1946 to 1956. He taught in UBC's Faculty of Education until his retirement in 1982. From 1976 to 1981 he was an art advisor with the National Capital Commission, and has held numerous short-term positions as visiting artist at Universities across Canada. His work has been exhibited in galleries across Canada and the United States.
