John Norton & Sons.
The House of John Norton & Sons, a prominent tobacco consignment merchant was based in London and Yorktown, Va. John Norton (1719-1777) represented the firm at its London offices, and his eldest son, John Hatley Norton (1745-1797), performed a similar responsibility in Virginia. His son, Dr. Daniel Norborne Norton (b. 1794), was a physician, mineralogist, and horticulturalist, known particularly for his experiments in viticulture. He resided at Magnolia Farm, near Richmond, Va.
