The Ohio War History Commission was a statewide cooperative body established in 1942 to collect material relating to Ohio's participation in World War II. The southwest Ohio region was coordinated by George F. Howe of the University of Cincinnati and by Eleanor Wilby of the Historical and Philosopical Society of Ohio (later known as the Cincinnati Historical Society).
