The Department of State, Division of Elections is charged with maintaining uniformity in the application, operation, and interpretation of the election code. The coordinator of elections is appointed by the Secretary of State and interprets the election code; reviews election law legislation, suggesting amendments and revisions to the General Assembly; and prepares the election manual for use by election officials. The coordinator may also promulgate rules and regulations necessary to comply with requirements of the election code.
