Brooks (1867-1964) was a professor and later head of the joint departments of physics and chemistry at what was then Central State Teachers College, now CMU, 1910-1947. In 1938 he was named Director of Graduate Studies. The "new" science building was named in his honor on Sept. 1, 1964, three months before his death. (Information is from the collection.).
